RE: Religions and Beliefs
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION Intent
We believe that RE is for everyone. It provides an opportunity to celebrate and foster awareness of the differences within our school and the wider world. It is a subject that celebrates diversity and challenges stereotypes.
Religious Education at our school plays a major role in the overall development of every child providing opportunities for the development of knowledge, skills, concepts and attitudes, as well as beliefs, practices and values. We help children consider the importance of and influence of beliefs, values and traditions on the lives of individuals, communities, societies and cultures.
Our RE aims to give time to develop a positive attitude towards others and respect the rights of others to hold different beliefs from their own including those of no faith. It also provides important opportunities to enhance the spiritual, moral, cultural and social development of every child and to contribute to their search for meaning and understanding. In addition to this it encourages children to develop the ability to form reasoned opinions leading to informed judgements about religious and moral issues.
