Welcome to Malden Manor Primary School

Welcome to Malden Manor, where our aim is to provide an educational experience of the highest quality for all the children in our care. By creating an inclusive and stimulating learning environment, we seek to capture pupils’ interest, extend their knowledge and raise their aspirations. Our teaching and learning is designed to bring learning to life, both in the classroom and through a variety of inspiring experiences in the wider community. In line with our objective of being the best we can be, we encourage children to take an active role in their education, developing the skills they need for independent learning. Parental involvement is vital for children to achieve their best so it is encouraged at every stage of learning.

Malden Manor is a vibrant and welcoming community in which we strive for the highest standards of attainment – whether academic, artistic or sporting. We find and nurture hidden talents, celebrating the strengths of every child.

Our expectations in terms of both learning and behaviour are high and the children respond with delightful enthusiasm, politeness and consideration for others. Our broad curriculum and rich programme of extra-curricular activities – including the popular breakfast and after-school clubs – provide a well-rounded education, supported by excellent pastoral care. Together with my team of dedicated staff and governors, I invite you to visit the school to see for yourself the fantastic opportunities it offers your child.

Governor Welcome

Meet the Governors

RLRachel Lambert - Chair of Governors - LA Governor

Hello. I am Rachel Lambert. I am the Chair of the Governing Body.
I took up this role in November 2020 after co-chairing for several months before this. I have been a governor of Malden Manor since 2014. My background is in education. I am a qualified secondary school teacher, with experience in Middle and Senior Leadership roles. I also have extensive knowledge of Early Years education from my time as a self-employed childminder. I am passionate about good quality, comprehensive, inclusive education - something that Malden Manor does very well.

It is a privilege to be the Chair of the Governing Body. I am very lucky to have a wonderful, dedicated group of governors, with varied backgrounds and a wealth of experience working alongside me and the school staff. Together we support the SLT in the strategic vision and development of the school.

Malden Manor is such a vibrant, welcoming and diverse school - it is a true reflection of the community in which we live. I still marvel at all the fantastic work going on to enable all our children to succeed and enjoy their time at school. As a parent who has had 2 children at the school, I have first hand knowledge of how children are effectively equipped for their next steps, how a love of learning is fostered and how proud pupils are to be part of the Malden Manor community.

JO Joseph Odiari - Vice Chair of Governors - Co-opted Governor

I am the Vice Chair of the School governing body and have been a Governor since 2016. I joined the Governing body as a way of giving something back to the local community of which I am a part. I am a civil servant by background and my children have attended the school, with my eldest having recently moved to High school.

With the pupils coming from diverse backgrounds, I am especially motivated to ensure that they can see a similar level of diversity and inclusivity on the school board that works for them.

I am passionate about Learning and am committed to working to ensure all our children get an excellent and well-rounded education. Literacy is a key area of personal interest and as an extracurricular activity, I have loved coming into the school to read to key stage 1 children and have them read to me.

 LE Lauren Edwards -Staff Governor

Hello, my name is Lauren Edwards and I have been a teacher governor since November 2021. I joined Malden Manor in September 2017 and have taught in Year 1 and Reception during my time here. I am the phonics and early reading lead and am pleased to see phonics teaching going from strength to strength with our new phonics scheme Sounds Write. I joined the Governing body to offer a teacher's voice and because I wanted to contribute to continuing to help improve our school and provide the children of Malden Manor with the best learning experiences and opportunities.

Outside of school I enjoy plenty of reading, cooking, exercising and travelling. I am originally from just outside of Manchester and am always keen to talk about the North! I am also a big Manchester UTD fan.

  AEBAmy El-Borgi - Parent Governor

I joined the governing body in February 2023 as a parent governor, when my daughters were in Nursery and Year 1.

I currently work at the Department for Education and have over 20 years' experience of working in education policy, in both local and national government. I've also previously served as a local authority governor and chair of the resources committee at a school in another borough.

I'm looking forward to bringing my skills and experience, as well as my perspective as a current parent, to support the important work of the governing body.

JFJohn Fuggles - Chair of FPP Committee - Co-opted Governor

I was delighted to be asked to join the Board of Governors, then to chair the Finance, Premises and Personnel committee.

Previously I have worked as a growth strategy consultant and now work for a software and consulting services company dedicated to the office of finance. As well as software and consulting I am a charity co-founder. Other passions include rugby, now retired, and climbing as well as being an avid reader, and published academic author. Previously I was part of a fundraising event team at another local school, something I did for five years.

I live locally with my family and am excited to be working with such a dedicated team of teachers, assistants and Governors at the school, and being part of the school that is really making a difference to so many children.

  MNManikandan Nanappan - Co-opted Governor

I've been a co-opted governor at the school since September 2022, driven by my passion for education. I believe every child deserves a quality education, regardless of their background. My goal is to ensure all students have the best chance to succeed in school and life.

I've witnessed first-hand how education transforms lives and helps students overcome challenges. I'm committed to working with others to provide every child with opportunities to thrive.

With a background in asset management and exposure to diverse cultures, I aim to make a positive impact on students' lives. I'm excited to collaborate with the governing body to establish Malden Manor Primary and Nursery School as a high-quality institution where all students can flourish.

AR Adele Rowe - Co-opted Governor

I have been a co-opted Governor at Malden Manor since December 2018 once I had joined the Malden Manor as the School Business Manager. I firmly believe in great education for all and enabling the finances of the school to support the children to be the best they can be.

I was previously a parent governor for 8 years at my children's primary school which gave me a great insight to the role of a Governor and I realised it was one I wanted to pursue again.

I will remain a governor when I leave Malden Manor as School Business Manager at the end of June 2023. I am looking forward to still being able to support the school in the future.

 AHSAdam Hedley-Smith - Parent Governor

I was delighted to join the FGB in April 2019 as a Parent Governor. Having my daughter in Year 6 and my son in Year 2, I have a keen interest in all parts of our wonderful school and wanted to help and support in as many ways as possible.

My background in the commercial / corporate world of software and tech sales organisations means I hope to be useful in areas concerning data analysis, training, culture and values...I also love debates and asking lots of questions (just ask the SLT, I’m sure they’ll confirm this!)

I am very excited about working with the first-class staff team at the school - there is some amazing work being done with the kids at our school and within our local community - we must, and will, continue to nurture and develop that.

Outside of work and being a Governor, I am a sports addict, although that consists of mainly watching it rather than playing it nowadays. Rugby was my game when I was lad but in recent years Golf has become a passion. We moved to Worcester Park / Old Malden 6 years ago and as a family we love spending time with our friends and extended families and continue to enjoy making our home in the area.

Here’s to another challenging but successful year ahead for all involved with Malden Manor School. I look forward to getting to know more of the parent and staff community during 2023!

 AFAndy Fuller - Co-opted Governor

I am the pastor of Malden Manor Community Church and became a Co-opted Governor in March 2019

Prior to working for the Church, I worked in NHS hospitals as a pharmacist.
I have been ‘linked’ with science teaching in the school, and I hope to tap into my scientific background to help in this area.

I want to see all parts of Malden Manor thrive, I’m excited about the progress children are making all across the school and I am looking forward to working with the staff team to encourage their great work with local children and families, and to strengthen links with our local community.

I have a wife and 3 children, and love sports (especially cricket, rugby and football (Aston Villa!!) and enjoying the great outdoors.

Eileen Bone4Eileen Bone - Co-opted Governor

I’m Eileen Bone and I’m very excited to join the Malden Manor Governing Body. I’m a retired primary headteacher and until 2023, I was a Governor at a school in another borough. I have a long association with the school; I taught here before my children were born (but given that my eldest is now 43, that’s quite a while ago)! Both of my children attended here too. I’ve spent my whole working life in education and believe passionately in improving outcomes for all children. In my spare time I sew, knit, read, swim and I am an ardent Arsenal fan. We have 2 season tickets in the family so at least one of us is at all the home games. As you can imagine, we are very excited by the fact that Declan Rice was educated here!
